Kitabi privacy policy
Effective date: 27 October 2026. Published by New Charm Limited, Hong Kong.
Kitabi does not ask you to create an account. You can read, listen and pray without telling us who you are.
What stays on your device
- Your location, used only to work out prayer times and the direction of the qibla and the shrines. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can refuse location access; prayer times then wait until you allow it.
- Your reading places, bookmarks, recited du'as, prayer settings and reminders. They are kept in the app on your iPhone. If you delete the app, they are deleted.
What leaves your device, and why
- Content downloads. Books, du'as, recitations and Quran fonts are downloaded from Kitabi's servers, from Quran Foundation's servers (quran.com) and, for Quran recitations, from QuranicAudio's servers. These requests carry the usual technical information any download carries (for example your IP address), which those servers may keep briefly in their logs.
- Subscription check. When you play a paid book, the app sends Apple's signed proof of your subscription to Kitabi's server. The server checks it and returns a short-lived link. We see that a subscription is valid, not who you are, and never your payment details: Apple handles all payments.
- Anonymous usage counts. The app sends counts such as "a book was started" or "minutes listened" without any name, account, advertising ID or location. We use them to see what people read and to fix problems. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Notifications are scheduled on your iPhone. Kitabi does not use a push service.
What Kitabi never does
- no advertising and no advertising IDs;
- no selling or sharing of personal data;
- no tracking across apps or websites;
- no analytics or tracking companies inside the app.
Children. Kitabi is for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices. You can refuse location and notifications in iOS Settings, turn off usage counts in Kitabi's Settings, and manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
Changes and contact. If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with its date. Questions: contact@newcharm.app.
